On September 2nd, our sweet little girl turned 1 year. It really has gone so fast and has been such a joy to be her mommy and watch her grow. She has the most amazing little personality! Sometimes amazingly hilarious, sometimes amazingly determined, and sometimes amazingly sweet, this little girl has stolen our hearts! The boys are in love and call her “Ditty” and fuss over who gets to lay beside her in the morning when our bed becomes the family bed. It’s difficult to get her out of Daddy’s arms and she truly has the roundest head of any baby I have ever seen because she is never put down! She can crawl and nod and say yes, mama, dada, ruff ruff, no no no, and meow meow. But most importantly she is a child of God and will stay that way living in this home! It’s a whole different ballgame with a girl and I really feel the calling to show her how to be a Godly example of a girl. I want her to love her Savior the way her Mommy and Daddy do and chose his ways like her brothers do. It is a feat difficult in this humanistic world, but with the work of our Heavenly Father, she will be his! Plainly said, this is the goal for all of our children and the entire reason we live the way we do (Daddy being home, homeschooling, and infusing God’s word in their hearts everyday.) We will always strive to bring our babies up knowing that they are a gift to us from God and it is our duty to return them to him as they grow.
Here’s to the first year of her “return” I hope we have brought you joy Lord!
And, well, she IS the “Cutest Birthday Girl EVER!”
Seeing as my schedule is always sporadic, by the time we were able to schedule Lily’s birthday party, I realized the only time that would work would be two weeks after the official day. So, on her birthday, we had a low key family celebration!
We all sang to her as we got her ready for breakfast…not quite sure she liked it.
The boys were excited for their sister…
She got to hang out halfway dressed…
and then she got to got to church wearing her birthday attire.
After church, the boys played some ball and Lily and Mommy played…
Puffy even got in on the fun.
And of course Daddy looked awesome!
Lily also got to enjoy her new chair…
…and open her eggs from Grandma and Grandpa Van Camp.
She is the most curious little child we have raised!
She loves these eggs!
We laughed because it is hard to tell who likes them more, Lily or the boys. The boys have named each one and played with them all night. We had to take them away from them in order for Lily to have them. They can imagine and play with just about anything! Where does it go when we grow up?
Daddy’s training her to win the World Series of Poker
And Andrew has special Sesame Street time with her every morning…for her enjoyment of course, not Andrew’s.
And sometimes, not often, I can get her to lay and sleep beside us while we do school. Did I mention not often?
This sweet girl is growing, and fast. Soon she’ll be sitting at the table doing school with us learning to read. But for now, we love her as a baby!
Happy First Birthday little angel!
Love Mommy and Daddy!
